So let's begin. On a very boring and lazy Saturday evening, he called. He asked what was I doing and things like that. He asked me what was my plan for the weekend and I told I literally have no plan. I was so bored of being bored. So he suggested his plans. He said let's go a one day road trip to Penang. I was like "Are you friggin' serious?". Apparently he is very serious. I went home and changed to something comfy and off we go. We started our journey at 8.30 pm. All I could think of is it's really happening. Like, it's actually happening. We're driving to Penang.
So, on the way there we talked a lot. We talked about a lot of things. All the things we talked about on the way there, he was perfectly sober. I am surprised. I think he's just as surprised as I am. We talked about normal stuffs like school, family and basically just the normal things we always talk about when we always meet up. Then, he was talking about whether there was any speed traps on the way there because he was driving 140 km/h with my car. Two seconds after he mentioned it, I saw flashes. Both of us we're just super stunned.
He was going all "What the fuck" and I'm just there like deciding whether to laugh or just sit still. I didn't blame him when I should. He didn't know that there was a speed trap machine. Probably cause they just put it there and it's actually his first time. Well, our first time. He kept saying sorry and all I could say was it's okay. I meant it. What else can I do. I wasn't mad at him or anything. I tried to calm him down and told him "I think we both would understand the most that sometimes shits do happen and there's nothing we can do about it".
Both of us just laughed. We laughed all the way when we finally reached our destination at 10.13 pm. I told him to use the new bridge and when we finally reached, he said "Iman, you know what? We're in my hometown!". I laughed so loud. He looked so happy. I was too. We enjoyed the bridge ride since we can't see anything cause it's like so dark. Our first stop was to get their famous lamb soup! We both ordered and that was our dinner. Well actually his lunch and dinner. After our meal, we walked around the town and back to our car.
He was doing his stuffs and we walked around the town again. We actually walked quite far and I was sweating like crazy. It was so humid. We walked to Padang Kota Lama and just enjoyed the dark skies. The moon was so bright and we walked all the way back to our car. Then continued our trip to the beach! He drove to Batu Feringghi and showed me around. We passed by Hard Rock Hotel, Starbucks and some other places. The moon was so bright and beautiful and it was reddish. Finally, stopped at a hotel beach. I think that was around 3.23 am. We sat there by the beach, listening to the sound of waves and looked up to the dark skies.
We spent our night talking about each other. It was the best bonding moment so far. I was a bit paranoid with the sound of waves and my fear of being in the dark. At that moment, it doesn't really matter cause I know he was there. Like I said before, it always feels like home when he's around. When we were silently hearing the sound of the waves, I saw a firefly. I mean it was the only firefly there. I don't know why but I just felt like it was luck. The firefly even flew near us and it was beautiful. I kept asking him why do I always see firefly when he's around.
We left the beach around 5 something and bought ourselves the famous Nasi Kandar. We had that for breakfast and it's time to go home. I told him I want to catch the sunrise. I mean I'm usually not awake to catch the sunrise. So he brought me to the ferry. We originally planned to use the old bridge back. Since he thought that I've never been on a ferry before, he brought me there. I enjoyed the short ride so much. The wind, the view and the sea. That was the highlight of the whole trip for me. I loved it so much. I just couldn't be any happier.
After the ferry ride, he showed me around his hometown, where he'll always go back to during the Raya season. Then went and get his sweets. I don't even know what those are but okay. After all of that, we drove all the way back to Kampar. I honestly do not remember most of the things that we talked about. All I know it was a lot and I was very exhausted. Well, he was too since he's the one driving and all. But I'm glad. I didn't regret saying yes to this trip. I'm sure he had fun too. I can see it from his face. We laughed a lot, talked a lot and bonded so much.
To sum up the things that we talked and learned about each other, I realized that me and him are actually very, very similar. That's why we are just not meant to be for each other. We're both a little scared but understood that this is how life's supposed to be. We have very high expectations of people and always end up being disappointed. We both agreed that's because we watch too much movies. We just can't be together. Soulmates supposed to be imperfectly perfect. Soulmates are supposed to be your polar opposite. Soulmates learn to love and accept the differences between each other. And that's where I realized me and him are just not right for each other.
I'm also surprised that he knows so much about me. He actually listens to everything I say. He remembers a lot too. A few times he showed me that he actually wants to protect me. He also knows how defensive I am about my friends. How I always see the best in people, the best in him. He also knows that I'm tough. He knows I have a mind of my own and I always know what I'm doing. He respects me for who I am. Those are all the things that he likes about me. I was so touched when he told me that. He appreciates me the way I want to be appreciated. I don't even have to tell, he knows it. He knows me.
He knows that I know a lot about him too. He knows that I came up to say hi to him is because of his speech. It was never his look. I also told him that no matter how many people don't believe in him, I'll always do. From the start till the end. I've always seen potential in him and I know he'll make it. He's kind and sometimes stupid. He appreciates the little things in life. He's just a dreamer like I am. He understands what I want and I understand what he wants. Even he knows that we're very alike and maybe that's why it always felt nice being around him. I'm happy that he includes me in his future.
I guess we both make each other stronger. He deserves to be in my exceptional list. We're each other's pillar. Till then.
